Executive, APAC
A broad role across our international business, at the intersection of technology, media, AI and venture capital.
Meliora is expanding rapidly and we need a courageous, curious and optimistic team member who is excited by the opportunity to build a new career at the intersection of technology, media, AI and venture capital.
You might be in your final year of university, have recently finished your degree, or already be working and looking for your next big challenge.
We don’t care how many years of experience you have. We care about your attitude, how you think, how you communicate and whether you get things done.
About Meliora
We’re a boutique, ambitious team building a new kind of business, with three arms: Advisory, Ventures and Creative.
In our first year, we’ve worked with more than 10 international enterprises across media, sport, telco and technology. We’ve launched a new venture capital fund, built products, established partnerships through our creative arm, and published a book, a weekly newsletter and an award-nominated B2B podcast series.
Our founders have worked for some of the biggest media and telco companies, and we have a track record of building digital products for millions of customers. Our team spans Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US, with offices in Sydney, Auckland, London and Los Angeles.
Your role
This is a broad role with exposure across our entire international business. You’ll work directly with our founders and senior team.
One day you might be preparing for a client meeting. The next you could be researching a new AI investment, supporting a client project, helping build a new product, managing an account, preparing investor materials or solving an operational problem.
Your work will span areas like:
- Client engagements and account management
- Project coordination
- Research, analysis and strategy
- AI and emerging technology
- Product and venture work, including investment research
- Marketing and communications
- Presentations, proposals and operations
We’re a small team, so everyone pitches in, and you’ll be a critical part of our culture.
Pace and flexibility
When we say fast-paced, we mean fast-paced.
Priorities change. Opportunities emerge quickly. You’ll sometimes be asked to tackle something you’ve never done before.
Because we work internationally, flexibility across time zones is part of the role. There will occasionally be very early mornings or very late evenings to accommodate clients and teams across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe and the US.
We don’t expect you to be permanently online, but we do expect you to be flexible when the work requires it.
This is not a role for the faint-hearted. But it will teach you a lot, and we’ll learn from you too.
What we’re looking for
The most important thing is attitude.
You’re ambitious, switched on, professional and curious. You take initiative, follow through, ask good questions and are comfortable figuring things out.
You can communicate clearly and keep things moving. That means strong written English, confidence with clients and senior stakeholders, good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple moving parts.
We’d also love you to have a real interest in AI technology and product development. You don’t need to be an engineer, but ideally you’ve gone beyond simply using ChatGPT. Maybe you’ve experimented with Claude Code, run a local model, built a small tool, connected APIs, created automations or taught yourself to vibe code.
It doesn’t need to be polished. What matters is that you’re interested enough to teach yourself, experiment and build.
Who can apply
We welcome applicants from any degree or background, including business, commerce, economics, engineering, computer science, law, media and the arts. You don’t need any consulting or investment experience.
You’ll need the right to work in Australia for the Sydney role, or in New Zealand for the Auckland role. We’re unable to sponsor visas for this position.
The role includes international travel, so you’ll need a current passport.
What you’ll get
The biggest thing we can offer is access.
You’ll learn from some of the most respected leaders in media, telco and technology, work with major international brands, and meet startup founders building interesting products out of London, Silicon Valley and markets beyond the G20.
You’ll get exposure to:
- CEOs, boards and senior executives
- Venture capital and investment decisions
- Startup founders and emerging technology businesses
- AI strategy and product development
- International client work, including travel
You’ll be given responsibility early, with exposure that some people don’t get until much later in their careers. You’ll learn on the job alongside our founders and partners, with regular feedback and coaching.
You’ll also receive a work computer and work mobile.
